The Three Treasures of Taoism: Introduction

Hello once again all you beautiful readers out there!

I must confess this is not the topic I was originally going to write about, originally I was planning on writing about the different views people have on Taoism and maybe relate them to the different sects of Christianity along with a few other thoughts on the matter that I might have.

But as you can see I’m not writing that article here, that’s because at least for the time being I’ve had a lot of exposure to the subject and needed to take a short break from it.

Instead I will be starting this site’s first series of posts where I will be giving a crash course in the three treasures of Taoism, how they pop up in Taoists texts and how we might find ways to make them more prevalent in our own lives.

I hope that sounds as interesting for you to read as it does for me to write! :)

What Are the Three Treasures of Taoism?

So since this the introduction part of this series, I suppose it makes sense for me to introduce you to something.  May I present to you, the three treasures of Taoism!

Ta-Da! Pretty impressive right?  The actual words might change depending on the translations, but these are generally accepted terms.  I’m going to be honest I’m very excited to get into these in much more detail, but here isn’t the place.

Compassion, Simplicity, and Humility, how many of us can honestly say that we make each one of these a priority in our lives?

Yes I’m well aware of the idea that when you achieve wu wei you’ll also embody these characteristics without trying as well, but I’m writing under the assumption that my readers are new to Taoism and aren’t quite there yet in there journey.

With that in mind I want to discuss each of these so that more of you can start to recognize opportunities to be compassionate, to simplify your life, and to remain humble.  Eventually after you learn how to do this it will become effortless to you, but everyone has to start somewhere.

That’s all I’m going to give you this time around, yes it’s a short post compared to my others, but if you think about it it’s really just a small part of the longest article yet!
